The number of coronavirus cases in New York State stands at 84,712 with 7,917 new cases reported April 1.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says projections show the outbreak worsening through the month. The Democrat says overburdened hospitals in hard-hit downstate areas have begun transferring patients to hospitals upstate, at least to the Albany area.

Broome County reported an additional coronavirus death, a man in his 70s, bringing the county total fatalities to 4.  Broome reports 41 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the outbreak.  In other Southern Tier Counties: Chenango County-26, Cortland County-8, Delaware County-20, Tioga County-7 and Tompkins County 68.

As of noon April 1, Pennsylvania Health Department officials said there were 5,805 positive cases with 74 deaths in the commonwealth.

There are eight confirmed cases in Bradford County, two in Susquehanna County and 14 in Wayne County in the Northern Tier.
