Maple syrup producers in New York State say they should be boiling sap by now but no sap is being collected yet.

It's been too cold for sap to flow in syrup producing areas of the state.

Ideal temperatures for sap collection are daytime temperatures in the low 40s with lows bottoming out in the 20s.

Producers have not said if they believe the slow start to the syrup season will impact supplies or price.
