New York Expands Internet Speed Investigation
Some New Yorkers have been complaining that their Internet service is not as fast as promised by providers.
State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is urging customers to check their Internet speeds and report their findings to his office.
Schneiderman has been looking into complaints regarding Internet service in New York state.
The attorney general has asked Internet users to utilize a website to check their actual Internet speed and submit a screenshot of the results to his office.
Schneiderman in October asked Time Warner Cable, Verizon and Cablevision to prove that their Internet speeds are equal to what they have advertised.
In a news release from the attorney general's office, Consumers Union programs director Chuck Bell said people aren't always receiving the "blazingly fast" Internet speeds they pay for.
