Over 200 contractors in New York state are included in a settlement with the state attorney general's office for not doing the work for which they had been hired.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says cases against 211 home improvement contractors have been settled with the companies paying fines and promising to end bad business practices.

The A.G. says the contractors promised to do work but did not complete projects or didn't get the work done in the contracted amount of time.

Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Buffalo, Poughkeepsie, Rochester and Watertown contractors were cited as well as companies operating in Westchester and Putnam counties.

The largest number of contractors cited were in Binghamton with 48, followed by Watertown with 35 and 31 in Buffalo.

Complaints can be phoned in to the New York State Attorney General's Helpline at 1-800-771-7755.
