Commuters and travelers through Downtown Binghamton are in for a smoother ride.  Workers have installed the initial coat of blacktop and are working on the smoother, final coat this afternoon.  Paving crew personnel tell WNBF News they are staying for as long as it takes tonight to finish the stretch of paving on Court Street that begins at the Roundabout and finishes at Hawley Street near Boscov's.

The new blacktop goes along with new sidewalks, curbs and the Roundabout in renovation work that has been going on throughout the summer.  The finishing touch comes well before the Columbus Day Parade and Tournament of Bands competition coming up on Monday, October 8.
