Six months after a naming rights deal was announced, two prominent exterior signs have been installed on the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Maines Paper and Food Service is to pay Broome County $75,000 annually as part of the rights agreement.

The naming rights deal took effect on July 1. The old "Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena" signs on the sides of the downtown Binghamton structure were removed several weeks ago.

Some signs at the 41-year-old venue continue to feature the original name.

Workers have been busy sprucing up the building over the last few months ahead of the opening of the Binghamton Senators American Hockey League season.

The Senators are to host Worcester on October 11.

The old scoreboard recently was removed from the center of the Arena. A new display system is expected to be installed in time for the first game.
