New charges are reportedly being filed against a former congressional candidate accused of plotting to burn down an Islamic community in Delaware County.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press says a grand jury has indicted Robert Doggert on a charge of solicitation to commit arson of a building and threatening interstate commerce.

The 64 year old had earlier pleaded not guilty to charges of solicitation to commit a civil rights violation.

Doggert is accused of using social media to try to solicit accomplices to attack Islamberg near Hancock with plans to burn down the mosque and kill residents of the community.

In court papers filed last year, Doggert reportedly was recorded by the FBI in a telephone call where he said he planned to bring an M-4 rifle with four magazines and other weapons and declared the residents of Islamberg had to be killed and their buildings burned down.

A year ago, Doggert had agreed to a plea deal but that plea was overturned by a federal judge.
