November is National Adoption Month.

Speaking on the November 24th edition of the weekly local public affairs show Southern Tier Close Up, Senior Caseworker for the Tioga County Department of Social Services, Erik Jones talked with host, Kathy Whyte about all aspects of adoption and foster care.

Jones says there's a need for not only adoptive families but also foster homes.  Jones says without enough homes, children may be put into a residential facility or group home which is less than ideal for the child and more costly for taxpayers.

For more information on adopting contact your local county Department of Social Services.

Southern Tier Close Up airs each Saturday at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
