The mural project was started at the end of the last school year and involved students from the Chenango Valley and Whitney Point high schools.  The work was taken up by volunteers over the summer months with SUNY Broome Community College students also stepping in to finish up the project.

The mural over a 110-foot span of fence depicts dogs waiting for and finally celebrating their adoptions.

The Broome County Dog Shelter is located off Upper Front Street and Lieutenant VanWinkle Drive at the South Entrance to the SUNY Broome campus.
