A good portion of New York State and Northeastern Pennsylvania are on alert for the possibility of flash flooding through early May 17.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch through 2 a.m. with the potential for heavy rain from embedded thunderstorms that could cause flash flooding in urban areas, along small streams and creeks and possibly the headwater rivers.

Motorists driving through the watch area as well as residents living and working in flood-prone area should keep alert to weather conditions and stay tuned for future updates from the National Weather Service.
