The first seven buildings with a total of fourteen units of the project off East Franklin Street are expected to be ready for occupancy next month.

A representative of Vestal-based American Horizons Group, the developer, said nearly 80 people are on a waiting list for the project.

The 54 rental units are being marketed to people over the age of 55. Each building has two units.

The project includes one already occupied home which had been started by a previous developer.

A model home is expected to be ready to be shown to prospective residents in a few days.

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency last year approved a tax incentive package for the $8.5 million project.

Construction on additional buildings on the hillside above East Franklin Street is continuing.
