Binghamton police were searching for a man who ran off on foot after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Prospect Street and Loraine Avenue in the First Ward around 7 p.m. Saturday.

A witness said the motorcycle was eastbound on Prospect Street at a high rate of speed when it smashed into the front passenger door of the Volvo sedan.

The cyclist apparently was not seriously hurt. After the collision, he ran from the scene.

The two men who were in the car that was struck were shaken but uninjured.

Police officers searched the area near the crash scene in an attempt to find the driver. He was last seen running east on Prospect Street. A witness said he may have headed behind the nearby Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.

Police on Sunday morning were not able to provide additional information about their effort to find the motorcycle operator.
