The game between the Binghamton Mets and Reading Fightin' Phils scheduled for tonight at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton has been cancelled.  Heavy downpours and continuing steady rain forced the cancellation.  Tonight was the last game that Reading was scheduled to play in Binghamton this season.

The B-Mets will make-up the game in Reading as part of a doubleheader when the two teams meet there on August 15, 16 and 17. No date has been announced for that doubleheader.

The rain was heavy and steady enough that the tarp was never taken off the infield.  The game was cancelled around 7:45 PM.  The cancellation spoiled a chance for Binghamton to sweep the series.  The B-Mets have been red-hot and have won eight of their last ten games.

Binghamton Mets General Manager Jim Weed announced that fans who had tickets for tonight's game can redeem those tickets for any other regular season home game except July 4.  Binghamton returns home for an eight-game homestand beginning on Friday night July 4 in a 7:05 game against Erie.
