More Sheriffs in New York State are lining up behind Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum’s appeal for all licensed firearm owners to carry their guns whenever they leave their house.

Delaware County Sheriff, Thomas Mills December 8 issued a statement saying he is not encouraging vigilantism but is seeking assistance from people who already have a licensed weapon and are trained to understand their lawful responsibilities.

Mills goes on to say he is not asking anyone to do a police officer’s job for them and is asking police to double their responsibility by carrying their weapons even when they are off-duty.

Steuben County Sheriff David Cole and Schuyler County Sheriff William Yessman both say handgun owners licensed to conceal-carry should have their weapons on them at all times.
