New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will include an increase in the state’s Environmental Protection Fund in his upcoming state-of-the-state and budget address.

The New York State Association of Counties and the state’s Environmental Commissioner are both applauding the $123 million increase to a fund that has seen years of cuts.

The increase dedicates a total of $300 million to the EPF.

The money is to be used to acquire environmentally sensitive land, protect farmland, fight invasive species and revive waterfronts.
