Standout Binghamton University softball player Jessica Rutherford has received another honor.  The senior outfielder has been named to the Third Team All-Mid Atlantic Region team.  Rutherford just finished her career as a Bearcat when Binghamton was eliminated from the America East Softball Championship Tournament last week.

This is the third time Rutherford has earned All-Region honors.  She is the first Bearcat to earn All-Region honors three times since BU moved to Division I.  She was a third team honoree last season and a first team pick in 2016.

Along with the All-Region honors Rutherford was named  to the America East All Conference First Team and to the conference's All-Tournament Team.  Rutherford finished this season with a .432 batting average and with a career batting average of .391 which is the highest in the school's history.  Recently inducted Binghamton University Athletic Hall of Fame honoree Mollie Lehman had held the record for career batting average at .379.

Along with record-establishing batting averages Rutherford ended her career with 235 hits which is also a Binghamton University softball record.
