A Tioga County woman was jailed after she allegedly left two young children unattended at Windsor High School.

Authorities say 33-year-old Rebecca Walsh of Candor was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She also was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Walsh was found by deputies on the ground behind some bushes at the school around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Police had been called to investigate a report of a woman behaving irrationally.

Investigators say Walsh "appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or an unknown substance."

Walsh's children - ages seven and nine - were found being cared for by someone at the school. They later were turned over to relatives.

Officials say Walsh became argumentative and tried to resist sheriff's deputies when they attempted to take her into custody.

Walsh was sent to Broome County Jail on $500 bail.
