The proposed sale of Greenman Senior Center, to OFB (Opportunities for Broome), is getting mixed reviews after a public hearing in Binghamton. The sale would mean the loss of a neighborhood assembly place, and the $75k bid would be a huge cut to the $400k appraised value. OFB would also have to pay $35k in property taxes even though they're a non-profit agency. The council is expected to vote on the proposal April 3rd. Greenman closed in November 2011 following an environmental systems failure deemed too expensive to fix. OFB planned to use the center to open a training kitchen.
