Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in locating 25-year-old Mary Helms.

According to information posted on Facebook by the woman's mother, she picked up a paycheck at Frank and Mary's Diner in Cortland around 1 p.m. Friday.

The mother's post indicated Helms did not show up for a scheduled shift on Friday night.

Helms may have been driving a black 2011 Hyundai Sonata. She is described as five-feet, eight-inches tall with brown eyes. Her hair had been dyed purple.

Cortland police Monday afternoon said Helms had not been found. They said she might have traveled to the Elmira area with a boyfriend.

People with information about the woman's whereabouts may contact Cortland police at 607.753.3001.
