Missing Fort Drum Soldier Found in Johnson City

A Fort Drum Soldier who was reported missing and whose vehicle was found, abandoned, on Interstate 81 in Castle Creek April 24 has been found and is under arrest.

New York State Police say 22 year old Gilbert Lee of Greenville, South Carolina had been sought since he had not made contact with anyone since his vehicle was found north of the Castle Creek exit at around 10:30 p.m., which was highly unusual.

The man was found, acting strangely, reciting Bible verses in Johnson City at around 6 a-m April 26 and placed into custody.

Authorities did not elaborate as to what charges have been lodged against Lee.

State Police could not confirm if Lee was under mental evaluation but said he had been sent to the Broome County Jail.
