The opening round of the Mirabito Stop-DWI Holiday Classic ended last night with a headline match-up between St. Michael's College School from Toronto, Ontario and long-time power Christ the King from New York City.  Christ the King stormed back from a 13 point deficit with under four minutes to play and won it with a basket by Tyrone Cohen with less than five seconds remaining to make the final 70-68.

The winning bucket came from an inbounds pass under the basket from Bryler Paige.  Christ the King's Travis Atson paced all scorers with 26 points.  Godwin Boahen hit for 18 points and Nelson Caputo added 17 more for St. Michael's.  After being outscored in all of the first three quarters the Royals of Christ the King rallied to top the team from Ontario 20-10 in the fourth quarter.

The win for Christ the King sets-up a National Division semi-final with Philadelphia Math, Civics and Sciences  and the Royals at 5:45 this afternoon at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.  Following that game Seton Catholic Central meets New York Mills in a Regional Division II battle.  Then at 9:15 John Carroll School faces Long Island Lutheran in a National Division semi-final.
