Mirabito Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival in Binghamton

The 54th Annual Mirabito Columbus Day Tournament of Bands Parade and Italian Festival was held in  Binghamton today.  The parade began shortly after 10 this morning with the Italian Festival held on Water Street near Boscov's until 2 PM. Members of St. Mary's of the Assumption Parish, the Abruzzese Club and Sons of Italy provided food for the Festival.

9 bands participated from around the region including bands from Johnson City and Union-Endicott High Schools.  Most schools were off today and many students as well as parents flocked downtown for the parade and the food.

Weather cooperated with just some light showers falling as the parade wrapped-up.  Along with the bands, numerous dignitaries and area civic and non-profit groups took part in the celebration.
