The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team rolled to a road win at UMBC on Thursday evening as they beat the Retrievers 68-53.  It was also another milestone night for BU's standout guard Imani Watkins.  Watkins scored 19 points and broke the 2,000 point mark total over her Bearcat career.  She becomes just the 10th player in America East history to reach the 2,000 point level.  She now is 19 points away from BU's all-time scoring leader Bess Greenberg who scored 2,024 points.

It was also a milestone night for UMBC athletics as they held their first women's basketball game in their new $50 million Events Center.  The men played the first overall game in the new venue last Saturday against Vermont.

With the win the Bearcats up their conference record to 8-4 and 17-8 overall.  17 wins is the third-highest number of wins the program has registered in the Division I era.  The Bearcats have four more regular season games remaining.  Up next BU hosts Vermont at 7 PM next Wednesday night (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
