Mets Look to Syndergaard in Game Two

The New York Mets host the Chicago Cubs in game two of the National League Championship Series tonight.  Former Binghamton Met Noah Syndergaard makes the start for New York while Jake Arrieta gets the nod for Chicago.

Arrieta has put together a potential Cy Young Award season compiling a 22-6 mark with a sizzling 1.77 Earned Run Average.  His last outing was in game three of the National League Division Series when he went 5.2 innings and gave up four runs to the Cardinals in a game the Cubs ended up winning.  He earned the wild-card game victory against Pittsburgh.

Syndergaard put together a record of 9-7 in the regular season with an ERA of 3.24.  He won a start in the series versus the Dodgers and then came back to throw 17 pitches in one inning of relief to help nail down the deciding game against Los Angeles on Thursday night.  There was concern that he may need another day of rest since he warmed up four times throwing about 60 pitches prior to entering that game.  Syndergaard told his manager Terry Collins he is ready to go.
