Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say they found a methamphetamine lab on the banks of the Chenango River in the Village of Sherburne on August 18.

Narcotics Detectives found 35 year old Robert Collins behind North Main Street and say he was cooking meth using the “one pot” method before being ordered to stop and being taken into custody.

Authorities say Collins was not only found to have the materials and laboratory equipment used to manufacture meth., but he also had methamphetamine in his possession.

The hazardous materials associated with the process were removed from the river bank by the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team.

Collins is charged with felony unlawful manufacturing methamphetamine, felony unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, felony criminal possession of the precursors of methamphetamine and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.
