Cortland County Sheriff's officials say they shut down a methamphetamine lab on New York Stte forest land.

Officials say May 18 the Cortland County Drug Task Force raided a location off the Hewitt Road truck trail in the Town of Scott and arrested 31 year old Joshua Pittsley of Cortland.

Investigators say they caught Pittsley in the act of cooking meth.

The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Response Team was called in along with the Environmental Protection service to assist in the clean up of the hazardous scene.

Pittsley is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of methamphetamine, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine and unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material.  He's also charged with misdemeanor criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Pittsley was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $50,000 bail.
