Thanks to a resident reporting possible drug activity, a 26 year old Cortland County man is in jail, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Sheriff’s officials say at around 6:30 p.m. February 9, they responded to a two-family home on Telephone Road in the Town of Taylor and found Christopher Baker in possession of methamphetamine and items used to make meth.

Residents of the apartment house were evacuated for about 21 hours while toxic materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were cleaned up by members of the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response team as well as Cincinnatus Fire Department, Cincinnatus Fire and Rescue and Cincinnatus Ambulance.

Baker is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal manufacturing of methamphetamine, felony unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $50,000 bail.
