Memorial Day parades are planned all around the region. 

Oxford’s parade starts at 9:30 May 29 following a wreath laying ceremony. Johnson City’s parade is at 10 a.m. with parking banned on Main Street starting at 8 a.m. until the parade clears the area.  Owego’s parade is at 10:30 downtown, Endicott at 10:30, Town of Binghamton 10 a.m., a noon ceremony at Vestal Memorial Park and City of Binghamton at 2 p.m.

School children and scouts have been going to local cemeteries to place flags at the graves of veterans.

The New York State Department of Transportation is suspending construction activities for the holiday weekend but speed zone restrictions remain in work areas.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation encourages travelers to visit the Historic Holiday Traffic page at www.511PA.com to plan optimal travel times on major roadways.  The site allows users to see how traffic speeds over the weekend compare to typical non-holiday week conditions.
