Medical Marijuana Facility Proposed for Johnson City

Among dozens of bids submitted to New York State for up to five licenses for the manufacture and dispensing of medicinal marijuana, one is from Salus Scientific of Syracuse for a potential cultivation center in Johnson City.

The company is proposing refurbishing the former Akel Giant Food Market Warehouse on Oakdale Road.

Salus says the development could mean up to 200 jobs.

There are 43 bids in the running for the licenses that could be granted later this month.
