A 33 year old McDonough man is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content at more than twice the legal limit when he was stopped by Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies at around quarter of 2:45 a.m. May 25 on Country Club Road in the Town of Union.

Officials say Matthew Karlgut’s Honda showed fresh front-end damage and the front bumper was dragging on the ground.  He’s charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher and other counts, including leaving the scene of an accident.

Deputies say they retraced the path of the Honda to the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Country Club Road where they said the vehicle left the road, hitting and damaging several poles and chain link fencing.

Karlgut has been ordered to appear in Town of Union Court at a later date.
