Binghamton Mayor Richard David says the City is already talking about what to do with the site of the KMart Store in the Binghamton Plaza after being notified Friday, September 16 that the store would be closing.

Kmart already closed stores in Endicott and Vestal and says the Binghamton store is among unprofitable locations being shut down.

The store will close in two months.

In a statement, the mayor said while the loss of an anchor retail store is a setback, the door is opened for new opportunities on the North Side.
