Two armed men entered a Binghamton fast-food restaurant, ordered employees to the floor, smashed phones and stole more than $1,000 from a safe.

City police told WNBF News there were no injuries in the weekend heist at the McDonald's at 3 West State Street.

Detective captain Jack Shea said police were called about 1:05 Sunday morning.

Shea said three workers were inside the business, which had closed a short time earlier. He said the men entered the building by going in through the drive-thru window.

The masked men displayed what appeared to be handguns.

The robbers reportedly took money from a safe but left some cash that was on a nearby counter.

Shea said the restaurant workers -- two women and a man -- told investigators they waited for a few minutes until they were sure the bandits were gone before calling police.

Police have no description of any vehicle that may have been used by the robbers to leave the scene.
