Binghamton area businesses are being encouraged to tap into the export market.

Speaking on the November 8 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, the president of the board of directors of the Global Business Alliance of Greater Binghamton and the Southern Tier, Steve Day and board member, Karen Klecar say there are lots of opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small business to market their goods outside of the United States.

Day says surprisingly, one of the biggest markets for American exports is China but opportunities can also be found in India, Columbia and other countries.

The Alliance is hosting a workshop to help businesses navigate the system.  Export Workshop: Grow Your Business Through Exporting will be held November 12 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Traditions at the Glen, 4101 Watson Blvd., Johnson City.

Due to limited space, registration is required. Registration is being taken online at www.GBABSTNY.com or by calling Steve Day at (607) 722-0722.

The fee for the workshop is $25.
