Fire hydrants in parts of Broome and Tioga counties are covered by snow and ice.

While residents and public works crews have cleared snow from around some hydrants, there still are many hydrants that may not be easily accessible by firefighters in an emergency.

Binghamton assistant fire chief Larry Ostanek this afternoon told WNBF News there had been no reported problems in the city as a result of the snow from the two recent storms.

Ostanek said it would be helpful if people would clear snow from hydrants near their homes.
