Authorities say police apprehended two of the suspects but a third ran away before officers arrived at the library at 185 Court Street.

Investigators say two people were walking through the library parking lot around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday when they were approached by the trio who demanded money.

According to city police, when the man refused to comply, he was attacked and his wallet was taken.

The man, whose name was not released, sustained minor injuries. He was treated by medics and released.

Police say a man and a woman who were taken into custody have been charged with second-degree robbery, a felony. 28-year-old Jeffrey Buie-Brown of Hawley Street, Binghamton, and 26-year-old Shawna Inabinet of Bridgeport, Connecticut, were being held at Broome County Jail.

People who have information about the robbery, including the possible identity and whereabouts of the third suspect, may contact detectives at 607.772.7080.
