A 25-year-old man was wounded and a downtown Binghamton apartment house was struck by bullets in a drive-by shooting incident.

Authorities say gunfire erupted around five o'clock Monday afternoon on Pine Street, just east of the old Greenman Senior Center.

Police say shots were fired toward two men who were on the sidewalk in front of 47 1/2 Pine Street.

One of the men, who investigators believe is from the Harrisburg area, was hit in the upper leg. He showed up at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City about 20 minutes after the shooting.

At least two shots struck the apartment house. No one in the residence was injured.

Police found several shell casings near the shooting scene.

Investigators say witnesses told them the shots came from a silver or grey sedan. Three or four men were in the car, which was last seen heading east on Pine Street.

People with information about the shooting may contact Binghamton police detectives at 607.772.7080.
