Man “Critical” After Downtown Binghamton Shooting

Authorities say a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest near a downtown Binghamton club.

According to city police, the shooting was reported at 3:58 a.m. Saturday in the area of Victoria's at 153 Susquehanna Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the injured man. As they assisted him, a crowd in the area became unruly.

Binghamton police requested assistance from officers with nearby agencies. No arrests were reported in connection with the disturbance.

Detectives say the man who was shot was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

A section of Susquehanna Street was closed for several hours while investigators processed the shooting scene.

Police did not indicate whether they've learned of a possible motive in the attack. They also did not reveal whether the injured man knew the shooter or whether they know the identity of a possible suspect.
