Authorities say 30-year-old David Hartman of Lewis Street had been sought for several weeks on a federal parole violation warrant for dangerous drugs.

Investigators say Hartman was apprehended October 29 after he ran from Broome County sheriff's deputies. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A sheriff's office sergeant entered a closed room in the basement of Hartman's residence and discovered the meth-making operation.

Police seized about six ounces of methamphetamine oil and other material used to produce the drug.

Hartman was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful manufacture of meth. He also faces a count of criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material.

Hartman was being held at Broome County Jail on the federal parole violation warrant.
