A Cayuga County man has been arrested as police investigate the death of a woman whose body was found near a roadway in the town of Dryden.

According to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Arthur Basso of Moravia has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it.

Investigators say 31-year-old Crystal Grobelny of Moravia was discovered a short distance from West Dryden Road early Sunday morning. Police were notified of an unresponsive woman. They say Grobelny was dead when officers arrived.

An autopsy was performed at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. The results were not made public.

Basso was arraigned on the felony count in Dryden town court and sent to Tompkins County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Basso is scheduled to be back in court next Monday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.
