An Endicott man has been accused of setting a fire at the village motel where he's been living.

Authorities say 50-year-old James Clark is suspected of setting fire to items inside a cart at the Endicott Inn at 214 Washington Avenue.

Police say the fire was reported around 10:40 Monday night.

Investigators say the cart was inside the motel's south entrance hallway. The cart was reported to be fully engulfed and the fire had damaged a wall when an employee noticed it.

The worker moved the cart outside to prevent more damage.

No injuries were reported and none of the motel residents was displaced.

Clark was charged with second-degree arson, a felony. He was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
