A denied lover is facing charges after Broome County Sheriff’s officials say he tried to break into the home of his conquest.

Authorities say 61 year old John Moriarty of Conklin is accused of trying to smash through a woman’s front door with a hammer after she denied his request for sex.

Deputies received a 911 call on the evening of November 3 about a person trying to get into a home.

Authorities say Moriarty also broke a window and was allegedly trying to climb into the residence in the Town of Conklin.

After Deputies threatened to use the Tazer on Moriarty, he dropped the hammer and was taken into custody.

Investigators say they found Moriarty was highly intoxicated.

Moriarty is charged with felony criminal mischief and was sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.
