A 55-year-old Hillcrest man has been accused of robbing a Tioga State Bank office in the town of Chenango.

Authorities say Mark Cunningham of Hastings Street was apprehended minutes after this afternoon's heist.

The robbery happened shortly before 1:30. According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a man left the bank with some cash. The robber drove away in a red SUV.

A state trooper spotted the suspect vehicle on Route 11 in the town of Barker. The SUV was pulled over and Cunningham was taken into custody.

Investigators say the cash taken from the bank was recovered. No weapon was displayed during the robbery and no injuries were reported.

Cunningham has been charged with third-degree robbery, a felony. He was arraigned in Chenango town court and sent to Broome County Jail.
