A major water main break in the Village of Endicott left hundreds of households without water last night. The break was found near the intersection of Park and Harrison not far from where K Mart used to be located.  Village of Endicott crews worked for a couple of hours trying to determine the exact location of the break.

The problem caused residents of Endicott, West Corners and the surrounding area to be without water for at least a couple of hours.  The break was pinpointed at about 10:30 PM.  Initial reports concerning the break came in around 8:30 PM.

Officials at the scene said the break was in one of the two 24-inch water pipes in the village.  Due to the water problem Union-Endicott schools have cancelled all classes for Wednesday.

A large body of water from the leak could be scene on the east side of the parking lot area that was used for K Mart and other stores that were once in that plaza.  Some water service was restored once the break was found but others could still be without water for some time.  As of  11:00 PM there was no mention any boil water advisories although that was a possibility.  For more on this story tune to News Radio 1290 WNBF throughout the morning.
