Work is set to get underway on the Route 6 Veterans Memorial Bridge Preservation Project in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says the $2.7 million dollar project between Main Street in Towanda and Route 2032, otherwise known as Leisure Drive, in Wysox is supposed to see preliminary work this week with completion expected by the end of October.

R. DeVincentis Construction of Binghamton is the prime contractor on the work to repair the bridge deck, bridge approaches and piers, install new light poles and apply an epoxy overlay to the deck.

Vehicles over 8.5 feet wide will be prohibited from the span during the project and PennDOT will issue later news releases about when those restrictions start.

The 14 span bridge over the Susquehanna River was built in 1986
