The Maine-Endwell Spartans earned their 55th consecutive victory Friday night when they defeated the Vestal Golden Bears 28-0 at Dick Hoover Stadium in Vestal.  The Golden Bears started out strong and forced a couple of Spartan fumbles but the Vestal's offense was not able to capitalize on them.

The Spartans struck twice on a touchdown run from John Cerra and a Kyle Balmer to Michael Palmer TD pas to lead 13-0 at the half.  Cerra struck again for M-E in the second half while the Balmer to Palmer connection clicked again to make the final 28-0.

Both teams were 3-0 gong into the Class A duel.  The Spartans have tied Section 10's Massena for the longest consecutive unbeaten streak in New York State history.  Massena went 54-0-1 in a streak that ended in 1957.  The Spartans can stand alone in the record books if they can defeat long-time rival Johnson City Friday night at 7:00 at Spartan Stadium.
