The Maine-Endwell Spartans won their 55th consecutive game last night with a 28-0 victory over the Vestal Golden Bears at Dick Hoover Stadium in Vestal.  John Cerra ran for two touchdowns and Kyle Balmer tossed a pair of TD passes to Michael Palmer to account for Spartans' scores.

The two teams entered the game 3-0 and they battled through a scoreless first quarter.  M-E scored twice in the second quarter and led 13-0 at the half.  Cerra scored on a 35 yard run and Balmer found Palmer for a 19 yard pass for the scoring in the first half.

In the second half the Spartans added a 28 yard TD run and a 47 yard Balmer to Palmer pass capped the victory.  The 55th straight win ties a New York State record for most consecutive games without a loss.  Section 10 Massena went 54-0-1 in a streak that ended in 1957.  The Spartans can set a new standard if they can defeat long-time rival Johnson City Friday night at 7:00 at Spartan Stadium.
