Maine-Endwell To Hold Official Opening Of New Turf Baseball Stadium

Maine-Endwell will officially open its new artificial turf baseball stadium this Wednesday, April 2 with a ribbon cutting ceremony that will begin at approximately 4 PM.  Thomas and Alba Tull, benefactors of the project along with several members of the Baseball Hall of Fame will be on hand.  The field is located behind the high school at 750 Farm to Market Road, Endwell.

Wednesday's events will include the ribbon cutting, unveiling of the stadium scoreboard and official naming of the field.  Thomas and Alba Tull will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The stadium project was made possible thanks to a gift from the Tull Family Foundation.  The overall gift totals 2.2 million dollars and includes lighting for the football stadium as well.  Thomas Tull played baseball at Maine-Endwell under Coach Gary Crooks.  He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Legendary Entertainment, as well as part owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and board member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Construction of the new turf stadium began in October, 2013.  It is the only turf high school baseball field in the region.  It will enable Maine-Endwell to practice and play in conditions where natural grass would not permit.

Following the opening ceremonies the Maine-Endwell Spartans will take the field for a short, simulated game with Vestal.  The public is invited to attend the dedication.
