The Maine-Endwell Spartans won their 42nd consecutive game Saturday but it came at a big price.  M-E shutout the Owego Indians 36-0 on Homecoming Day at Spartan Stadium in Endwell.  However, M-E lost two starters in their first offensive series in the game.  On the second play from scrimmage running back and wide receiver Drew Gallagher had to leave with an apparent shoulder injury.  Then later in that same series fullback Trent Story left with a serious ankle injury.  Neither was able to return.

Owego also suffered an injury to a key player.  Quarterback Logan Neira had to be helped off the field in the first half with an ankle injury.

The Spartans did get quarterback Kevin Barrett back for the game.  He was injured last week in the Spartans win over Norwich. He was subbing for Kyle Balmer who suffered a wrist injury in the opening night win at Union-Endicott.  Balmer was available to punt Saturday but the Spartans never had to utilize him.

Adam Gallagher scored a pair of touchdowns for the Spartans while Michael Palmer also accounted for a pair of scores.  He ran back  an Owego punt 65 yards for six points and was on the receiving end of a 33 - yard pass from Barrett for another TD.

The Spartans are home this Friday to host Chenango Valley at 7 PM.  That game will also be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
