Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton plans to improve services for people with limited language ability under an agreement with the New York state attorney general's office.

The hospital also is to take steps to ensure services will be available to those with limited incomes.

The agreement was announced Wednesday by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Lourdes is to improve its existing language assistance and financial aid policies and services.

A statement released by the attorney general's office indicated Lourdes will promote effective communication between employees and patients and their families.

The hospital also is to translate vital documents and forms, including discharge and financial aid information.

Under the agreement, Lourdes is to provide reports to the attorney general's office regarding the implementation of its language access program.

Schneiderman also announced a similar agreement with Auburn General Hospital.
