August 15th is to be the last day on the job for 25 Lockheed Martin workers in Owego. Over 100 more jobs are to be cut in Salina.

The company has sent out layoff notices to 367 employees in the United States across its Mission Systems and Training division.

Most of the workers affected are said to be in engineering and program management.

The company is blaming a delay in some contract announcements and competition in the marketplace.

The layoff news comes as word circulated that Lockheed was partnering with Sikorsky Aircraft in a bid to land a contract to build the next generation of presidential helicopter, a program that the Tioga County facility had started and then lost during President Barack Obama's first term.
